To enjoy the discounted swim costs for members, you may be required to present evidence of your membership every time you go swimming. If you can’t show that you are a member, then you may be asked to pay the full non-member price for swimming.
A Family Membership is available to families or couples living together at the same address. Partners need not be married. We do not limit the number of children that can be part of a Family Membership. Adult “children” can be included in a family membership, provided that they normally live at the same family address.
Partners who do not have children, but who live at the same address and both want to be members, should buy a Family Membership and not two single Adult Memberships.
The discounted price for swimming is available only to members of the family that are living together at the same address. The discounted price for swimming does not extend to family friends, extended family (not living at the same address) or other groups arriving at the pool together.
All new memberships last for one year from the date they are taken out.
New Online Membership FAQs
We have a brand new system, and a few things are different. Here’s a quick summary:
Q: Do I have to buy my new membership online?
A: Mostly, yes. It’s really much quicker and easier for everyone now that we can process membership applications online. It means that we can take immediate payment with a credit card – so you can purchase a membership at home. It also means that we can keep a much better track of who has a membership, and when the memberships expire – so that we can alert you.
Q: Do I have to pay by PayPal?
A: We use PayPal to process our online transactions. We use an external supplier like this so that we can be sure that your credit card details are safe. We don’t store (or even see!) your credit card details. Of course, PayPal would prefer that you used a PayPal account when you pay – but you don’t need to, you can just use a credit or debit card.
Q: But I don’t have a credit card!
A: We know that some people don’t have a credit card, or cannot shop online. We understand that, and we can accommodate you. If you really can’t use the online system, or if you don’t have a credit card, then contact us.
Q: Is the information that you hold about me safe and secure?
A: Check our privacy and security policy on our terms and conditions page. In summary, we do everything that we reasonably can to ensure that your information is safe. In particular, we use https, and we don’t store (or even see!) your credit card details. However, please bear in mind that even some of the worlds largest and richest companies have been compromised.
Q: I have an existing membership under the old manual system. Can I use the new system to renew that membership?
A: Unfortunately, no. We considered trying to make this possible – but for a number of reasons, we could not. It would have been an awful lot of work, and would have involved transferring personal information online without members’ knowledge. In the end, we decided that the best solution was simply to ask members to buy a new membership using the new system as-and-when their old membership expires. In the future, renewing with the new system will be easy.
Q: Will my membership renew automatically when it expires?
There are two parts to this answer:
A1: If you have an existing membership under the old manual system, then it will expire in due course, and you will need to purchase a new membership under the new system at that time. You should not purchase a new membership with the new system until your old manual membership has expired – because the two systems are not linked, and you may lose membership time.
A2: When you purchase a new membership with the new online system, you should be sent a renewal invitation about a month before that membership expires. At that time, you’ll be able to pay to renew. We will not automatically renew your membership. If you don’t pay the amount on the renewal invitation, your membership will lapse.
Q: I have an existing membership under the old manual system. Do I get to keep the same membership number?
A: Unfortunately, no. Again, this would have been an awful lot of work. The new system will allocate a new “Wendover Swimming ID” to everyone who buys a membership. This new ID is prefixed with “WSID” to differentiate it.
Q: Do I get a membership card with the new online system?
A: No! When you have completed your membership purchase, simply go to your account page. This shows your valid membership, and the expiration date. Just print off this page!
Q: Do I have to name all the members of my family?
A: Yes. Our new membership system requires that for family memberships, all members of the family must be named. You can add and remove names at your account page.
